Just when you think you’ve got the hang of one (relatively) simple task, your baby goes and changes things for you.
Over the last couple of weeks, nappy changing has become a whole new challenge thanks to Reindeer’s insistence on rolling over. He isn’t that bothered about rolling over generally, but put him on the changing mat and it becomes a goal approached with single-minded determination and near-boundless enthusiasm.
The result is that he can roll over on his ‘non-roll’ mat in about 2 seconds. I’ve tried stopping him but I just don’t have enough limbs available between wrestling the baby (octopus?), nappy, cotton wool, nappy sack and keeping his hands out of the way.
Thanks to teething and weaning we’ve had some truly appalling nappies recently which just adds to the jollity.
My current approach is to clean the front section as fast as I can before he rolls, then tell myself that by rolling on his tummy he’s making it easier for me to clean the rest of his bottom.
I’ve yet to find a good way to put the new nappy on while he’s this way around.
I really hope this is a phase which passes soon because it is making an already unlovely task even worse!
